A Sudden Turn of Events

My father passed away suddenly a week ago at the age of 82, leaving behind a wife of 55 years, 3 children and 7 grandchildren, all of whom adored him. Since he died, I have spoken to many of his friends and co-workers that knew him well. They all said the same thing about him: “Del was the kindest, most generous man I have ever met.”

He was well-loved by everyone whose life he touched.

He lived a rich, full and gregarious life. He was an athlete, an actor, a director, a screenwriter, a producer, a film-maker, a realtor, a pilot and a risk-taker in just about everything he did. He forgave everyone for their misdeeds and tried to help everyone in need, at times to his own detriment.

He Loved My Mother for a Lifetime

I know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that my dad trusted and loved me unconditionally. Even when he had judgments about my life choices, he always carried a deeper faith in me that helped keep me steady as I ventured into adulthood and a life lived for God.

May He Rest in Peace

Dad and Me, 2011

I pray that he died knowing what a good and thoughtful person and loving husband and father he was and how much he contributed to the lives of others.

I will miss his kindness, his raucous laughter and the silly Gremlin faces he used to make at the dinner table to amuse all his children and grandchildren.

Dad, I will always love you and remember your generosity above all else.

Karen, I pray also that he knew how much he was loved. Still can’t believe he is gone.
